Council of University Presidents
The Council of University Presidents (CUPS) supports seven of New Mexico's public universities through information sharing, collaboration, strategic planning, policy development, and community outreach. The Council recognizes that the well-being of the institutions, their faculty, staff and students and the broader public of New Mexico are one and the same.
Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities
The University of New Mexico is proud to be a founding member of the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities, a voluntary association of universities that are both Hispanic-Serving Institutions and in the top 5% of universities in the country for research.
Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities
President Stokes serves on the Governing Board of the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU), a national organization which champions Hispanic success in higher education by promoting the development of member colleges and universities; improving access to and the quality of post-secondary educational opportunities for Hispanic students; and meeting the needs of business, industry and government through the development and sharing of resources, information and expertise.
President Stokes is a core member of the City of Albuquerque’s Homeless Coordinating Council (HCC). As part of this group, UNM contributes to alleviating the problem of homelessness among youth in ABQ and has already started the UNM Basic Needs Project to assess issues of food and shelter insecurities among youth in the Albuquerque community.
United Way of North Central New Mexico
President Stokes is proud to serve as a Board Member for the United Way of North Central New Mexico, which works to inspire donors and businesses to invest in the community and partner with nonprofits to mobilize resources and channel them where they are most needed.
The University of New Mexico Foundation
President Stokes serves on the Board of Trustees for The UNM Foundation, which promotes excellence at the University of New Mexico by raising, investing and managing private gifts through the cultivation of long-term partnerships with donors, and by matching their interests to the University’s priorities
UNM Hospital Board of Trustees
The University of New Mexico Hospital's Board of Trustees oversees the hospital's clinical operations to ensure it can keep providing high-quality care and supporting education and research at the university's Health Sciences Center.
Presidential Advisory Committees and Task Forces
President Stokes has created a number of advisory committees and task forces to provide insight and guidance to UNM leadership on issues critical to the Lobo community.
The Campus Safety Council (CSC) is a multidisciplinary team that regularly analyzes campus safety needs and makes comprehensive recommendations to the President and other university leadership on the strategic direction of UNM's efforts.
The Enrollment Task Force (ETF) provides recommendations to address the current environment of declining enrollment.
President’s Task Force on Institutional Ethics and Integrity
The President's Task Force on Institutional Ethics and Integrity serves as an advisory committee for the President on present and future issues concerning the University’s ethical culture, values, and decision-making practices.
