A Welcome Message from President Steve Goldstein
It is a privilege to join The University of New Mexico and become part of a community defined by excellence, innovation, and a deep commitment to serving the people of our state.
I want to begin by thanking President Garnett Stokes for her extraordinary leadership over the past eight years. During her tenure, the university achieved remarkable growth and significant progress while navigating unprecedented challenges. I look forward to building upon the strong foundation she established, and I am grateful for her generosity in ensuring a smooth and thoughtful transition.
As I begin my presidency, I look forward to meeting with students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, tribal leaders, community partners, and friends of the university across New Mexico and beyond. My first priority is to listen and learn, to understand more deeply the people, programs, and partnerships that make UNM such an exceptional institution.
Building on the university's strengths, we will expand access and opportunity for our students, advance research and innovation, and amplify UNM's impact across New Mexico and beyond.
